Scooter 2.2 - ...Let's Not Talk About It

Welcome back to the Scooters, the story about, love, loss, and little dog paws.
So hey, I messed up! More below for the long of it.

So at the time of playing this, I got very greedy with mods. I...more or less dumped upwards of a 100 mods into my game. And then the 7th of April patch came out, and my game borked into the next dimension. It took me a good long while to figure out which ones were messing me up so badly. A test save proved fine, but the legacy save was irreparable--I'm talking, The Sims 4 has stopped working type.

So I saved the Scooters and the Silvas, started a clean save, and plopped them back in. Unfortunately, this means I couldn't collect Francie and Ollie (their spirits were already in the Nether World). Also I forgot about Matangi's siblings that I moved out to live in San Myshuno so the Silvas are down 2 kids.

I split up the main family and Matangi's parents. I didn't have too much important story to tell with Jay and Swati, really. Anyway, I'm only stating this because the premades have all restarted their lives, which will look weird because a bunch of them already appeared last generation. So, continuity errors will be there, I guess?

Okay team. Good talk.

Josie: So...we're living in a new house that we can just afford?

Matangi: Yes.

Josie: And your parents are living across town because...reasons?

Matangi: Yes.

Josie: And we're just gonna brush this under the rug?

Matangi: Yes.

Josie: Okay. That settles that.

Anyway they adopted a puppy! Please meet the newest addition to the family!

Waffle Scooter
Dalmatian ~ Independent, smart, hunter

MATANGI NO

Matangi: Boop.

Waffle: (confused yip)

I really enjoy Brindleton Bay's docks. It reminds me of this time I went and visited Newfoundland (that's in Canada, for people unfamiliar with it).

Remember visiting places? Haha. I don't.

Fuck 2020.

I really...Sims AI, why? You know you're a vegetarian. Why did you autonomously order currywurst?

Matangi: Smelled tastey:-(

Josie: Hello. Can I get a screech on the rocks?

Bartender, exaggerated accent: Is you a Newfoundlander?

Josie: N...no...I'm a Virgo.

Bartender, normally: Alright, you're gonna get a Screwdriver.

Josie's AI must be better than Matangi's, because she autonomously cooked up some veggie burgers.

Josie: They say a man's heart is through his stomach. That rule should still apply even if that man's stomach is sensitive and absolutely will not hold a chunk of cow in it.

It's time for Waffle's first walk! I can't walk puppies (pfft okay) so this will have to do.

Matangi: Waffle, does it feel like you're flying since you aren't touching the ground?

Waffle: (complacent sniff)

To help bring in some extra cash, Josie signed up to be a writer.

Josie: And yet I CAN'T work from home? On my computer where I do all of my writing? Who the hell came up with these rules? Some buffoons who work for Electronic Arts?

Matangi: I...sense a disturbance in the force.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Vlad: H--hey, it's me, your old pal. Vlad. Vlad Straud? Uh, I was wondering if you've reconsidered letting me have a little succ succ. Y'know, for old times' sake.

Waffle is so small. I can't deal with this.

I gotta enjoy while we can--he grows up into a big ole borky boy in T minus one chapter :'-)

In my head, Newcrest is in a place that gets snow, but relatively mild winters, never colder than -15 C. Brindleton Bay, however, is in a place that absolutely gets choke slammed by cold, wet, sleet-y winters every year. So good luck, Josie.

Josie: The hell is this? Snow? In MY springtime? Ridiculous.

Josie: ...serious? Getting ignored for their phone is like, bad date rite 101 for everyone in this day and age.

Matangi: Well, maybe, but...(sigh) so embarrassing. I haven't actually been on many dates. Maybe like, two.

Josie: Wait, seriously? So--so Swati really wasn't lying?

Matangi: What! What did amma tell you?

Josie: That you haven't dated anyone since getting into school. Which, I guess you just confirmed, right?

Matangi: Ah...true enough, I guess. Didn't have to read me for shit like that though, amma.

Josie: Mat, it's fine. I'll let you take me out this weekend to make up for lost time. Sounds good?

Is this what they call "roughing it"?

Matangi: I'm eating a grilled thing outside. I might as well be living in Granite Falls right now. Haha.

Please don't actually make me go camping. I will die and/or cry.

I'M CRYYYYYING I DIDN'T KNOW PUPPIES COULD TRIP ON THEIR OWN FEET!!!

Lil baby Waffle I'm so sorry I can't stop laughing aadhsudjskl

Josie: I like this house and all but it's a little too quaintcore country cottage, I think.

You are absolutely right, Josie. I will make a mental note of this and literally never fix it. Ever.

Caught this mustachio'd fella stomping about the Scooter property. Why so glum, chum?

Random man: Stepped in some whelpy Dalmatian's crap on my way home! Can't anyone pick up around here?

Josie, why are you sad? (Also why do I have so many pictures of Josie being sad at her food?)

Josie: You can take the meat out of the burger but you can't take the burger out...of the...meat...eating girl who is having...a meatless...burger? idk that analogy got away from me.

I'm sure plenty of other countries' coastal regions inform their respective Simmers of Brindleton Bay's geography, but for me, it's all East Coast of Canada. Screech and cod fry and COW'S ICE CREAM BABY!!!! (Beaver cries in the distance)

Josie: Oh, no! It looks like you've got a loose thread in your cardigan.

Matangi: You can see that from the literal other side of me?

Josie: Sure can. Better...get that...that'd be embarrassing.

Don't worry. Mat loved it.

Do you mean to tell me that ALL OF THAT is Waffle's poop?!

Matangi: I just don't understand where it all comes from. The little monster.

I can't. He's just so tiny and wee and little. I'm eating my own hands. I can't deal with this.

Waffle: (contented snoozing sounds)

There's something about the deep blue skybox and the default textures that really makes me think of Sims 2. Like TS4 was the aesthetic sequel to TS2 that it never got in TS3. Does that make sense? idk I just have many #thoughts

Matangi: (flexing) Uh huh. You like that? You like those bad boys? That's all plant fibre, hard work, and dedication baby.

Josie: Whoa, tiger. Careful. You might misfire one of those airsoft guns.

Matangi: :-( Jojo!!!

Matangi: Did you make any new friends at school, son?

Josie: Do you have any homework you want help with?

Matangi: Did those other boys make fun of you again?

Josie: Do you want mom and dad to talk to their parents?

Waffle: (??????????????)

Josie: Waffle, you're one dirty boy! But you'll grow out of it, right?

Waffle: (positive yap!)

No dear reader. He did not grow out of it. Spoiler: Waffle was the filthiest dog I've ever had my Sims own.

Sebastian came over one night.

Sebastian: This is--very good, Josie-bug. Thank you.

Josie: Dad...

Sebastian: Wh-- (clears throat) What? I said it was good!

Josie: (sigh) You've looked like you wanted to cry for 15 minutes. You didn't have to eat vegan dogs! I could've made you something you actually liked!

All right! No more fuss and faffing about! Brindleton Bay's best (and only) Animal Hospital is now open!

This hospital's second vet is Mrs. Supriya Delgato who was the best choice logistically, but also a bad choice because she and Matangi look frighteningly similar from afar!

Supriya: It's cause we both cute and styling :-)

Hell yeah. Matangi was born for this.

Matangi: There, there. You're a very good girl. You're very brave and it'll all be okay soon. Okay?

Cat: (anxious meeeeeow!)

Their first shift went fantastically! I don't have my quarterly report on me but Mat was probably 4 or 5 up in his goal of animals to treat. Only 95 more to go!

For the purposes of his goals, I'm only counting the animals that he, the active vet, treats personally. Supriya's just there to make it seem like less of a one-pony ranch, know what I mean?

**✿❀ ❀✿**

Matangi: ...it was just incredible. I dunno. I worked for so long to get here and now I'm here. It's just--wow. What a feeling.

Josie: I completely believe you, Mat. It sounds like you had a really good first day.

Matangi: And we're just gonna keep on doing that! I can't wait to make this my full-time thing.

Josie: I'm really happy for you. Just, make sure not to burn yourself out, okay?

Matangi: I know, I know. I just can't help but be excited, that's all.

Josie: I'm really proud of you, Mat. Christian side hug for my best friend?

Matangi: Haha. Christian side hug. ...Goodnight, Jojo.

Josie: Night, Mat. Sleep well.

**✿❀ ❀✿**

Hmmmmmm! Things really do just be heating up around here. Thanks for joining me, everyone. I'll see you next time~

All the mods breaking with each patch is a whole mood tbh. I wasn't too big of an active player when TS3 was the "in" game (bc my computers couldn't handle it until after it was done releasing packs), so I'm thankful when I play that and TS2 I don't have to worry about this. (Kinda the reason why I don't play TS4 too often tbh)

Also this whole update was great, but the "Christian side hug" is what K*lled me I swear
